Somethings fishy around here....

I noticed just last night, that my female had stringy poo. It's not white, so I thought that she had swallowed a hair or something, because I have 3 cats and a dog. When she poo's everything looks normal (It's brown) but there is a clear piece of something going through it. It's all starting to add up and she is trying to swim around with everything hanging on...  Tongue Lips Sealed Could this be a hair or internal parasites? She is acting completely normal and eats like a little piggy. It's really skinny looking.

She is in a 1 gallon bowl

Her water is changed every other day

I put in aquarium salt and chlorine and chloramine killers. Acassionally I put in some preventative.  Smiley

Adventures were what he liked. Smelling the fresh air, listening to the birds sing, and swipping at an occasional butterfly that flitted by. This was an adventure all his own. What's this? A road? As he crossed it, noises flew into his ears. Pain struck him, and he fell onto the yellow line. RIP Jaz

hmmm, since it's starting to build up behind her I would begin to suspect worms.  The best course of action would be to start with some jungle parasite food (or the parasite clear tabs, but the food is more effective and easier to dose).  If you're usuing gravel or something I'd remove.  You can replace it after there are no more signs of worms and it's been rinced well.

Okay. Where can I get the Jungle internal parasite medicine? Will I have to look online? If I have to order it, than should I just keep on changing her water and watching her close while the meds. are shipping? (Good thing I've been saving up my money! lol!)

I did some research on the meds, and found this. http://www.fish.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=710090+001&srccode=FSHNXTAG It's made my Jungle, but is it what I need? And does the '8 ct.' stand for eight caplets?

The 8 count stands for 8 individual tablets that treat 10 gallons each.  You can cut the tablets.
The parasite food would be easier for you, but it is harder to find.  Try calling some local fish-only shops (if you have them in your area) to see if they carry it.  The food is easier because you just feed what they want to eat for 4 days.  With the tabs, you'll have to try to cut them for your bowl size.  But, the tabs are found at almost any pet store or walmart.

Hey thanks! I will give the petstore a call today. Tonight we are going into town so if they have it I can stop by and pick some up.  Grin If they don't have the food, than I think I will just buy the tablets. I'm use to cutting the tablets because when my boy had a bacteria problem I gave him Maracyn 1&2 and I always had to cut them.  Wink

Yay! They had the medicine I needed, and I gave her a good water change and fed her. She is doing so well! I'm glad that I caught this quickly, because I lost 3 girls a while back to internal parasites. I didn't know that they were unheathly when I baught them from Wal-Mart... I will never buy them there again! Oh! And guess what else else? I'm not good with tale types just yet, but I know a little bit, and I saw this male that had really short fins, and was a beautiful rose silver color... and I fell in LOVE with him!!!! I just had to get him, and I named him Rosco Rose! He is sooooooooo handsom!!!!!! I think he is called a Super Delta or a Delta? His ventral fins are very full, and long. I really couldn't believe how many beautiful bettas there were! There were these extremely yellow females, pink and purple blue colored CT's, and the females were so big.... that if I could have I would have baught them all! LOL! When my dad and I were looking at them, I couldn't stop looking at Rosco, and dad didn't know what to think, because in his eyes, I guess the other bettas there were prettier. But I knew that he was very rare to see in a petstore. :-) We are going back tomorrow to pick out another one. :-) It's not everyday you see bettas like that in a LFS!  Shocked

P.S. Boy, I'm getting worse and worse. I'm so addicted to bettas! Okay.... calm down.....
P.P.S. I am going to try hard to get a picture of Rosco on here. I just have to figure out how... lol....  Smiley

Lol, the addiction has started!

If your new boy has short fins, he is probably a plakat, or it's possible that he's just not matured yet.  But either way, he's obviously stolen your heart!   inlove

To post pics look down on the post reply and you'll see "Additional Options"  click that and it'll let you browse your pic files on your computor to post them.  There is a size limit, so you may have to resize your pics.  A good size is 300X400, or on windows picture maker you can choose "web small" for a size.
