I got this snail yesterday. I saw it in the snail tank at Petco and had to have it because I've never seen a white one before. Actually, it has a little orange tint near his shell opening, but otherwise, he's snow white.
They tend to get extra thick growth (white and blues as they both have white shells) sometimes, and it appears in a yellowish orange band (or green in the case of blues). As far as I can tell, it just means they were growing extra slow at that brief period of time (sometimes diet but more often a temperture drop) so the shell grew very thick.
Ivory, blue, yellow, black, brown, jade, purple and pink are all fairly common now. The last two are harder to find in petstores unless someone locally is breeding and selling to them... and you'll rarely find them in chains. Occasionally genetics play a trick on the mass breeders and they'll get a dark magenta mixed in with the shipments, but not too often.
