What do you do when it is really hard to see where the rays are, just because they are the same color as the tail???

It shouldn't be too hard to see the rays - even if they're the same color, they are often a little darker and sick out a little bit. The fins are like paper, and the rays are like veins - they protrude out of the fin a lttle bit. If you can't see them looking straight-on, try looking from an angle or taking a piture and really analyzing it.

Well, we joke that a VT is a long finned PK, which = 2 rays... so if you have a 4 ray VT, you have a very poor delta, lolol.
Of course a long finned transitional PK would probably be a 4 ray VT as well, lol.
