Two moves later, we're in San Antonio.  My husband would be thrilled if we were ever to move back to NC.  I don't like snow, so I prefer to stay here.  We're both originally from upstate NY.

Although you have a soft spot for NC, hope IN agrees with you!
That's right, I DID know you were in TX.  But c'mon....a record snowfall in cary is like 2.5" ;)

Thanks for remembering I'm in IN.  You know, it seems like every day gets just a little bit easier.  We're finally making some nice friends and getting out more.  Thank goodness for babysitters and their friends!!!  I've met half a dozen moms this week getting sitters for Jer's company parties!   ;)

Ok you amphibian folks, there was a massive car accident on our road today and the closest place to kill some time waiting for the traffic to move again was our local petsmart.  After walking around for over an hour, I broke down and got one of their dwarf frogs.  I acclimated him all day to our water.  IN water is freaky....it's different from door to door because everyone does something different to soften it.   Personally, I love hard water.  Anyway, after an afternoon of slow acclimation, I introduced him to Blue.  I fed him first prior to introduction....both got their own portions of bloodworm/shrimp cocktail, then after a water change and rearrangement of Blue's apartment, in they went.  My camera battery is dead or I'd post a picture, but they are snout to snout and just look so darn precious!  The new one (as of yet, unnamed) is quite small, so it's hard to sex him, but I'm leaning toward him being another male....anyway, they're getting acquainted right now.  I'm happy that Blue has a new friend.  I'm excited to start the new frog tank, but it's actually weeks away.  I'll keep ya posted!

Awwww that's super cute Lori! I hope all is well with your froggies, I'm sure Blue will love having a play mate. As soon as you get a pic you must post it :). Since I just got my new tank I'll be moving my snails out so I'll get a few more frogs for my 11g ^^. Mine have grown so much since I got them. They're pig frogs too. Dummies chew on the plant roots sometimes thinking they're worms ;D

Spouse is pushing for the Blue Ridge Parkway area, not Cary.

Beardies are way hard to care for, and they smell TERRIBLE. I had one for about a year, btu I had to find him a new home ebcause of the smell and his light bulbs were pretty expensive. And they are eating machines, a full grown beardie can eat 4 dozen large crickets, and a crapload of veggies each day.

My friend had those beardies too, they most definaetly are pigs. He had a meal worm and cricket breeding process going and still had to buy from the pet store! Craziness.

My froggies are getting big! They've definaetly grown tons since I've got them(for dwarfs anyway lol). Most have lost any of their visible tail. I haven't seem them shed at all yet though. It's possible if they did they just ate it though I guess. What piggies lol.

Alrigh. I'm new and I kinda am looking for an answer since christmas is coming up. My boyfriend saw an aquraium at his work that had what he calls "aquatic frogs" in that "Jumped on (or in) the water" now I don't really know what he was talking about but I thought it'd be a cute gift to get him. anyone have any details or are frogs basically dead during the winter.

The Aquamaniacs site has a very good article about two different types of aquatic frogs:

You may also find the Flippers and Fins African Dwarf Frog FAQ pages interesting: http://www.flippersandfins.net/adffaq.htm

When pet store people actually let people know :P. Seriously, I hate pet stores and the info they give sometimes...

Why are mealworms not good? I don't have any reptiles myself so I have no clue :).
