The small House Leopard and prey

I've lost two that I have not listed.  I lost Purple Haze in November - he lived for 2 or 3 months with a huge blister on one side, a somewhat smaller swelling on the other - but the whole time, he was eating well.  I got a 5 gallon tank from a freecycler, and put him in it with shallower water and his rock, and he'd prop himself against the rock - but still eating and breathing well.  Until mid November, when I came in and found the blister had broken.  He was swimming better, but not as enthusiastically.  I did a full water change - didn't know what the blister had in it, and he enjoyed being able to move around the tank that day - but was gone by the next morning.

Then, we had a two week shutdown, and I came in and changed water, with everyone doing well - but the first day back at work, it was obvious that little SeaFoam had a much more classic case of dropsy.

I took him to the Aquarium store yesterday - they will either see if they can treat him, or let him go.  I couldn't bear watching him basically drown because he couldn't get up for air, even in 2 " of water.

R.I.P. My little white betta. He did not have a name but he was a joy to have. I kept him next to my bed. He had problems with swim bladder ever since I bought him it was on and off. Sadly I think the furnace troubles of it going out put alot of stress on him because the heater I had would only raise the tank by 5 degrees but the tank would drop in temp when the room temp dropped. He seemed like he was recovering last night. I fed him before I went to bed and he was acting like his good old self and then I woke up this morning and he had passed away. I will miss him very much because of his great personality and his never give up attitude. Everytime before when I thought he was going to pass away he fought back and survived. Even last night he did not just lay down he kept swimming for the top and he kept eating and trying to survive.
