  ok so in about two weeks ill be getting a nice 55 gallon tank ( gotta save a lil more money ) Im thinking of putting female bettas (only) in this tank ...   how many would be a safe amount ??

I'd guess that 15 would be a nice number.  That gives them about 3 2/3 of a gallon each.  Of course, make sure it's heavily planted and has lots of caves and hidey-holes.  In terms of bioload, you could put in 27, but I don't think that would give them enough space.

But there's so much more that you can do with a 55 gallon!  You could toss in 7 bettas and still have lots of room for at least 30 more inches of fish (in a nice, easy to care for, understocked tank).  How are you even going to find 15+ female bettas?

i would go with the bettas ! i would go with 20 though.......like said above heavily planted and lots of caves

I would go with either 15 or 17, tons of hidey places and plants- as mentioned already- and maybe 4 or 5 Cory Cats (bottom dwellers).  They are pretty active and fun to watch. The only thing you have to be careful of is making sure they get food. The girls can be quite piggy.

yea 15 to 20 is an exellent number .... possibly some other unique fish in with them ....and about finding 15 females very easy .. I go to a fish store that sells bettas and bettas and bettas ... in one tank they have about 30 of em ! so surplus beauties is not the problem !

yea.......i cant wait till i move from my house when im older.....my godmother promised me a 125 gallon YAY and all im keeping is females!!  Mwahha!

lol.... at first I was thinking african chichlids but bettas seem to have the most personality to me out of all fish

me too! our wal mart gets shipmeants of bettas in every wendsday and thats when i go to get my females if i dont go to the pet store first lol
