These suggestions apply to most common livebearer types (Guppies, Endler's, Swords, Platies & Mollies).
 ?
Generally, the males tend to be a bit more colorful fish, and are slender bodied. ?Female fish tend to be rounder bodied and larger than male fish.
 ?
Males will have an adapted anal fin called a gonopodium, while females have a fan-shaped anal fin.
 ?
The following photo of guppies provided by Jennyzed shows the differences in anal fins between males and females.
 ?
 Thanks, Jennyzed!

you should buy a breeding trap and put the fish in it before it has babies, or you could buy some "fry grass" and put it along the bottom, also males (I'm pretty sure) have an elongation like a little tube on its anal fin.

Being she's black, you will not be able to see the gravid spot.  The only way to tell is by her belly.  A pregnant molly will have a bulging belly that gets bigger by the day.  As she is nearing the end of her pregnancy, the belly will take on a more bulged-squarish shape.

Other livebearing fishes don't necessariily have a gonopodium like poeciliids.

Fish like half-beaks (Nomorhamphus celebensis) look a little different.  I don't have much information, but there are photos on the following webpage that illustrate the differences between male and females for this species:  http://livebearers.org/livebearerspg3.htm
